Facing left when getting kicked off Yoshi reduces lag, but is much more difficult.

Fast Strat
This strat can be very consistent. Since just tapping B will give Mario a full 16 frames (one framerule) of floating, tapping B once before the pipe and once after the pipe will set Mario up to get enough p-speed so long as he landed early enough on the first platform.
