- Fuzzed Up
- When you are the best at Any%, have the perfect run going, then lose cape 3 times and get Game Over
- NCNSW
- Shorthand for No Cape/StarWorld
- YI#
- Yoshi's Island
- DP#
- Donut Plains
- VD/Dome#
- Vanilla Dome
- BB#
- Butter Bridge
- FOI#
- Forest of Illusion
- CI/Choco#
- Chocolate Island
- VoB#
- Valley of Bowser
- SW#
- Star World
- IL
- Individual Level: Getting a single exit as fast as possible, regardless of whether or not it can be used in any full-game run. Sometimes has restrictions (small only).
- Dark Room
- The room before the Bowser fight and after the doors where it is dark until you hit the light switch
- Door#
- Referring to the numbered Doors inside of Bowser's Castle
- Bowser#
- Different stages of fighting Bowser (1: first stage of fight where Bowser swoops back and forth; 2: second stage of fight where Bowser follows Mario while hovering; 3: last stage of fight where Bowser smashes on the ground and follows Mario
- RNG
- Random Number Generator. Used to refer to variable factors that are beyond a player's control.
- Zip/"Smashola"
- Glitch where Mario twirls blocks and moves through them very fast
- Orb
- Orb Glitch
- Cloud
- Cloud Glitch
- Wings
- Yoshi Wings, usually referring to a glitch allowing you to turn Yoshi blue and go up into the sky, ending the level.
- Clip
- Going through the wall/out of bounds.
- TAS
- Tool Assisted Speedrun, using a device to make a non-human only gameplay.

- Japanese equivalent of lol
- スーパーマリオワールド
- Japanese for Super Mario World
- Early Ellies
- Stolen from Super Mario 64, Early Ellies (Elevators) is when you 1 cycle the vertical room in Castle 2
- Wiggle
- A quick left and right motion that you do mid-air to manipulate enemy spawns.
